Some common procedures include white fillings, ceramic crowns and bridges, porcelain veneers and onlays, dental implant restorations, extractions with bone replacement, and removable devices such as dentures and essix retainers.
White fillings
When a tooth has a cavity or decay, the affected area needs to be cleaned and replaced.
Dr. Pierpont uses the most modern, tooth colored material, resin composite, to restore the tooth’s structure and function.
Tooth Extractions
In some cases, a tooth may need to be extracted, or removed, such as for severe decay, advanced gum disease, or fractured.
Dr. Pierpont carefully and painlessly removes the necessary teeth and places a bone graft to allow for healthy bone to grow back.
Dental Crowns
Dental crowns, also known as caps, are used to restore and strengthen damaged or weakened teeth. Dr. Pierpont custom-makes them.
The crowns cover the entire visible portion of the tooth, increasing a potential weak tooth’s strength. They can improve the appearance, shape, and function of a tooth that has undergone extensive decay, fracture, or a root canal treatment.
Bridges
Dental bridges are used to replace missing teeth. They consist of one or more artificial teeth (pontics) that are held in place by dental crowns on neighboring teeth.
Bridges help restore the appearance, function, and alignment of the teeth.
Dentures
Dentures are removable prosthetic devices used to replace multiple missing teeth. They can be complete dentures (replacing all teeth) or partial dentures (replacing some missing teeth).
Dentures improve chewing ability, speech, and aesthetics.
Dental Implants
Dental implants are a permanent solution for replacing missing teeth. They consist of a titanium post that is surgically placed into the jawbone, acting as an artificial tooth root.
Dr. Pierpont can then fabricate a crown to attach to the implant, providing a natural-looking and functioning tooth replacement. These implants may also be placed under removable dentures to help increase stability.
Gum Disease Treatment
Dr. Pierpont diagnoses and treats gum diseases, such as gingivitis and periodontitis.
Treatment may involve preventative cleanings (Prophy), Scaling and Root Planing (deep cleaning), medication, or referral to a periodontist (gum specialist) for more advanced cases.
Root Canals
Root canal treatment, also known as endodontic therapy, is a dental procedure performed to treat infection or damage to the pulp (the innermost part) of a tooth. The pulp contains nerves, blood vessels, and connective tissue. When the pulp becomes infected or inflamed, it can cause severe pain and other dental problems.
Root canal treatment is a common and highly successful procedure that can save a tooth that might otherwise need to be extracted. It helps alleviate pain, resolve infection, and restore the tooth’s function. Dr. Pierpont uses the latest technology and equipment to perform this treatment.
